Orpheus was a musician in Greek mythology who fell in love with Eurydice, a woman of great beauty. When Eurydice died from a snake bite, Orpheus traveled to the underworld to rescue her. With his music, he was able to convince Hades and Persephone to release Eurydice, but he was warned not to look back at her until they had reached the world of the living. Tragically, Orpheus could not resist looking back, and Eurydice was lost forever.
